Sun Packages Egypt, Aswan Resort
Aswan Resort Description
Small enough to walk around and graced with the most stunning setting on the Nile, the river here is peppered with islands; the pace of life is slow and relaxing. Days can be spent watching sailboats float dreamily by as spectacular sunsets appear before you.
The two main islands to visit are Elephantine; with ruins and a museum, while Kitchener features a botanic garden. Explore the Souk in Aswan, a feast for the senses, packed with spices, perfumes, baskets and scarves.
Aswan has been a favourite winter resort since the beginning of the nineteenth century, and it's still a perfect place to get away from it all.
Aswan is one of the best bases in Egypt from which to explore the tombs, temples and relics found along the Nile. Sunny Aswan was once an ancient Egyptian frontier town, originally known as Syene. Today its manageable size and welcoming inhabitants, makes it an easy town to explore, and its unique setting and relaxed African feel offer visitors a different side of Egypt to enjoy.
From here you can take a felucca cruise at sunset, join a Nile fishing safari, or visit the amazing Sun Temple and Temple of Ramses II, at Abu Simbel. The two temples of Abu Simbel were cut out of the sandstone cliffs over 3,000 years ago; for many visitors it is considered the most spiritual temple in Egypt.
The incredible project to remove and reconstruct them is considered a major historical feat during the construction of the High Dam on Lake Nasser, the largest man-made lake in the world, during the 1960s; the spectacular Aswan High Dam controls the River Nile's water level. Visiting the temples you will find giant statues, pillars and a series of painted inner sanctuaries.
Other major historical sightseeing includes East Bank Temples (for approx. £25 per person), with the legendary 250 acre ancient pharaonic site of Karnak Temple, which is astounding and the Luxor Temple, a huge shrine at the heart of the city.
Discover without haste the entire West Bank featuring the famous Valley of the Kings and Queens with the Colossi of Memnon and the Mortuary Temple of Queen Hatchesput, one of the most remarkable monuments of Egyptian architecture.
A selection of well-known Temples awaits you, such as Edfu Temple, the best preserved major temple in Egypt dedicated to the falcon god Horus; Kom Ombo was dedicated to two gods: the crocodile god Sobek and the falcon god Haroeris; the Temple of Isis, Philae, a romantic island temple worshipped by visitors from afar.
If it had been completed, the Unfinished Obelisk would have been one of the heaviest built by the ancient Egyptians.

For quenching your thirst for spectacular sceneries, try the Denderah Day Cruise, approx. £34 per person, for a full day cruise & visit to Denderah Temple. Also on offer the Nile Cruise (Available during a stay in Luxor) and a Balloon Flight over West Bank for approx. £135 per person.
If your eyes are still in search for more, then the Sound and Light show at Karnak Temple, for approx. £16 per person, will amaze the whole family or contribute to a magical honeymoon.

As to your shopping needs, you will find The Aswan Souk market is a great place to practice your bartering. This market is located mainly on one long street around 2 km long a couple of blocks back from the river, and it seems to continue on forever - shop after shop of tempting wares and vendors trying to coax you over for a closer look.
It is a really colourful market in Aswan - particularly so because of the numerous shops selling spices and bright purple indigo powder. Although we recommend you never pay the asking price in Aswan as it is very common to barter.
Aswan is a peaceful, relaxing spot to spend you holiday, with many visitors enjoying the clean air, watery views and stunning sunsets. Spend your time strolling the wide coastal promenade of Aswan as the local sail boats drift by.
In the evening it's pleasant to dine on freshly caught fish in a floating restaurant, while listening to Nubian music played live.
