Obergurgl Ski Resort Description
Ski holidays in Obergurgl and Hochgurgl share one of the highest ski areas in Austria; Obergurgl is one of Austria’s most famous, best loved and most sought-after ski resorts, and deservedly so.
Set in the spectacular Ötz Valley, Obergurgl ski slopes reach over 3000m (the highest village in the whole country), resulting in reliable snow conditions during your ski holiday with snow fall as early as November to as late in the season as May.
Both ski holiday areas, linked by a gondola and bus service, have developed from farming settlements into quality resorts offering convenient, high altitude skiing. Obergurgl’s resort centre has little traffic and numerous shops, cafés, restaurants and bars, many of which have a great atmosphere at the end of the day.
Both the resorts of Obergurgl and Hochgurgl attract a loyal following of beginners, intermediates and families every winter thanks to snow sure slopes, great quality accommodation and a relaxed resort atmosphere.
An Obergurgl ski holiday does not promise to be one of Austria’s liveliest ski holiday resorts though live music is not unusual in some of the bars later on in the evenings. Hochgurgl is no more than a cluster of quality hotels set on the mountainside offering superb convenience for the slopes and a relaxing mountain base during your group skiing or family skiing holiday.

The attractive Tyrolean village centre of Obergurgl retains its appealing, traditionally relaxed charm and a cosy, intimate feel, yet is big enough to offer an ample range of facilities, and a friendly après-ski atmosphere.
